Cape Town is the favourite spot, its well-known pink village on Somerset Road, featured on the pink map and gay guide. There are a number of gay-friendly guest houses in the area where visitors can get directions and information about the clubs and pubs, parties and functions that are frequent in the season.

In addition to self-drive tours, wildlife and cultural visits, there is a gay and lesbian film festival early in the year and the renowned Mother City Queer Project in December. Compared to Sydney's Mardi Gras and Miami's White Party, it brings visitors from all over the world to a massive, lavish-costumed, themed, multi-floored party. Twinkly Sea, Shopping and Farm Fresh have been some of the themes in past years. This year's is bound to be great so book early.
